Office Excel 2007 may crash when you try to save Excel workbooks that were created by using previous Excel versions


Microsoft Office Excel 2007 may crash when you try to save Excel workbooks that were created by using previous Excel versions.

To resolve this issue, apply the following update:
2412265 Description of the 2007 Office system hotfix package (mso-x-none.msp): October 26, 2010

After you install the hotfix package, follow these steps to enable the hotfix:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
  2. Locate and then select the following registry subkey:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Common\
  1. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
  2. Type IgnoreMissingShapeIDCluster, and then press ENTER.
  3. In the Details pane, right-click IgnoreMissingShapeIDCluster, and then click Modify.
  4. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
  5. Exit Registry Editor.
